It’s Friday, and we are on the road - this week’s KOMODO poster is coming to you from one of the world's music capitals, Austin Texas. We have four fresh bands to shine some love on this week; one even sounds like an Austin local! Today’s journey includes stops in INDIA, BRUNEI, and INDONESIA.
TOSCASODA @toscasoda play energetic and dreamy pop from Tangerang, INDONESIA. Just dropped over to our studio is “Your Loss, " the band's first single with their new vocalist, Azahra Auladana, whose unique style and powerful vocals perfectly complement the band's dreamy vibe. "Your Loss" is about turning anger into happiness and finding immense joy despite deep sadness. Oh gosh, we have so much LOVE for this track, listen up, it’s spinning on KOMODO!
JUST OUT today is “Thank God It’s Friday”, an outburst of joy welcoming the weekend. NOOD KINK @nood.kink can be found in Yogyakarta, INDONESIA - but they sure as heck sound like they could fit into the Austin Texas scene. Instant, plasticky, and almost superficial, they make music, sometimes ramen. We have a bunch of NOOD KINK singles in high rotation at KOMODO - listen up for “Life Is Good”, “Blue Sunset” (DON’T miss the Blue Sunset’s skateboarding bride video!) and of course the anthem of the day; “Thank God It’s Friday”.
We have been playing GUERILLA ORCHESTRA’s @weareguerillaorchestra EMO revival track “I Don't Want to Go Home” for years. And now Ella our music sleuth in the KOMODO office got the heads-up that they have just released something new. “Stuck In My Head” seems to be a rework of a 2020 release, that features angsty shouting and a whole lot of guitar tapping!
WILD WILD WOMEN @wildwildwomen_ are India’s first all-female hip-hop collective of rappers, B-girls and graffiti artists who are on a mission to encourage more women to work together, fight for their rights, and increase diversity in the Indian hip-hop community. “Living Waves” is dance, rap, and sure wonderful! Catch it this week as a feature track on KOMODO!
